In essence, the SLTFLY is a Satellite Earth Station that is transportable in nature. The typical set up time is 30 minutes by two persons.
WHAT CAN IT DO?
Transmit and receive audio-visual programmes such as live coverage of events via satellite.

In what format?
Transmit and receive in compressed digital video.

At what rate?
Any rate between 2 Mbps to 15 Mbps

Why different rates?
Depending on the application, suitable rates could be selected
eg:
Picture with low movements such as a news presentation -2 Mbps
Pictures with moderate movements such as a Cricket match - 8 Mbps
Picture with high movements such as a Motor race - 15 Mbps

Can this system broadcast probrammes such as direct to home TV?
No, because the system is not designed technically for such a service.

Then who can use it and in which way?
TV Broadcasters, Multinational Organisations, Sports Federations, etc, to transfer audio-visual material from one location to one or many locations they want. e.g. live coverage of and event to the main broadcast station for broadcasting.

Can anybody receive programmes transmitted by this system?
No, the receiving parties are identified by the transmitting party and will be informed of the date, time and the satellite channel in advance. If encryption is used for security, the receiving party should be informed of the relevant information to decode the signal.

Can this be hired to uplink/downlink from a location outside sri lanka?
Yes, this could be transported by air to any country. The system is designed to be light weight, weighing only 800kg and is packed into flight cases complying to airline checked baggage specifications.

Power requirement?
Equipment operates on 230VAC and a portable generator is included in the package.

How is the satellite usage arranged?
SLT will arrange the satellite or the customers can arrange their own space segment to suite the requirement.

Who is responsible for material content?
It is the client's responsibility to ensure required approvals wire-guard to programme content such as events pertaining to national security, etc.
