SLT – Mobitel Convergence Trophy Annual Cricket Encounter 2008
Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the nation's number one integrated communications service provider in Sri Lanka together with Mobitel, the national mobile service provider met each other at the Convergence Trophy cricket tournament hosted by both companies. The main objective behind this cricket tournament was the strengthening of teamwork in convergence of technologies with a view to add more value to its customers.

In this special encounter, both the companies strengthened their relationships among the employees through the sportsmanship of cricket, a popular game in Sri Lanka, which was played at the Mercantile Sports Ground. The 20 limited over cricket tournament comprised of both companies playing two matches head to head, in categories A and B. SLT won the A category match by eight wickets, while Mobitel won the B category match by seven wickets.

SLT encourages a wide range of sports at SLT and out of those, cricket gets the most attention. During the past few years, the SLT cricket team met the Mobitel cricket team in two friendly matches. The fellowship and good sportsmanship has gone a long way in uniting people from both companies and depicts exactly what SLT tries is to achieve in promoting a life beyond the workplace.
 
The Convergence Trophy Cricket tournament is the outcome of togetherness of the officials from both cricket associations and their efforts in organising carnival atmosphere to interact with each other outside work environment for the game is far beyond the expectation. The aim is to make this an annual event, helping to show the commitment to develop and strengthen relationships through sports as well as being able to face the challenges in the industry.
