Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the national ICT solutions provider proudly announced the successful deployment of world’s latest Internet Protocol (IP) version - IPv6 at the LKDomain Registry in Sri Lanka. IPv6 is a key milestone in information communication technology (ICT) service enhancement of both Sri Lanka Telecom and the LK Domain Registry. All countries, including Sri Lanka will opt for this new version.as the addresses available under the old version are running out.

SLT Annual Report 2014 won the Gold Award in the Telecommunication Sector for the 9th consecutive year at the ICASL Annual Report Awards 2015.

In 2014 SLT proudly announced its partnership with 15 international telecommunication operators representing 17 countries, in the formation of a consortium in order to build the South East Asia - Middle East - Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) state-of-the-art undersea cable system. The 1^st of February 2016 marked the arrival of this multi-regional superhighway in Sri Lanka by the opening of the - cable-landing station building for the SEA-ME-WE 5 in Matara.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC reported revenue of Rs 55.7 bn during the first 9 months of 2016 exhibiting a year on year (YoY) growth of 9.5%. The growth was largely driven by an increased demand for data and broadband related products that were introduced to the market through LTE coverage expansion and fiber optic based ultra-high speed broadband for higher data volumes.

The consortium that developed the South East Asia, Middle East and Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5) submarine cable was awarded the “Project of the Year – Subsea Award” at the Global Carrier Awards on 8 November 2016, in Paris. Sri Lanka Telecom, the country’s leading ICT Solutions Provider is a proud member of this consortium and has played a vital role in the creation of this submarine cable.

Sri Lanka Telecom PLC released its Group and Holding Company Financial Results for the year ending 2016, which revealed a healthy revenue growth by 8.5% and profits up by 28.6% compared to 2015. The Group comprises of the holding Company and eight subsidiaries including Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd, the mobile arm.

The Group recorded a net profit of Rs.4.8 billion with a marked increase of 28.6% year on year. This growth was driven by an increase in revenue of both Fixed ICT and Mobile segments reaching a total of Rs 73.8 Billion.
