SLT-MOBITEL contributes to national development through innovation, resilience, and a people-first vision

SLT‑MOBITEL, Sri Lanka’s National ICT Solutions Provider, is combining innovation, resilience, and a people‑first vision to amplify efforts to expand the country’s digital transformation agenda. Building on strong FY 2025 financial results, the company is pioneering initiatives to elevate customer experiences, strengthen enterprises, and advance national digital inclusion, reinforcing its role in driving Sri Lanka’s economic progress.

A decisive turnaround in profitability was achieved through disciplined cost management, operational efficiency, and steady growth across fixed and mobile businesses, strengthening the company’s financial foundation to fuel continued investment in national infrastructure.

SLT‑MOBITEL’s success as a catalyst of national development is tangible and wide‑reaching. Offering next‑generation connectivity experiences, SLT‑MOBITEL made 5G publicly available in Sri Lanka, reinforcing its leadership in digital transformation and positioning the country at the forefront of innovation.

In March 2026, SLT‑MOBITEL introduced a pioneering 24/7 operational model, demonstrating its commitment to delivering uninterrupted connectivity and responsive fault resolution for Enterprise and Home customers whose activities and livelihoods depend on seamless network infrastructure.

The model establishes an industry benchmark unmatched by any competitor. Fourteen Outside Plant Maintenance Centres (OPMCs), strategically located across Metro areas and regions including Kandy and Jaffna, now operate on a full 24/7 basis, representing the country’s most extensive after‑hours service network.

During an event highlighting SLT‑MOBITEL’s broader achievements and strategic direction, the 24/7 model was presented as a key milestone. The briefing was attended by Hon. Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy; Dr. Mothilal de Silva, Chairman, SLT Group; Riyaaz Rasheed, Chief Executive Officer; Imantha Wijekoon, Chief Operating Officer; and Sanjeewa Samaranayake, Chief Financial Officer.

Dr. Mothilal de Silva, Chairman of SLT Group, stated, “Our strong financial results reflect the resilience of SLT‑MOBITEL and the trust customers place in us. The rollout of 24/7 OPMC operations raises the bar for service reliability while strengthening customer confidence and supporting Sri Lanka’s digital backbone and economic growth.”

Riyaaz Rasheed, CEO of SLT‑MOBITEL, said, “As the country’s National ICT Solutions Provider, we recognise our responsibility in advancing national development through people‑centric initiatives. Our industry‑first 24/7 operational model demonstrates our commitment to innovation, digital transformation, and inclusive growth across Sri Lanka.”

SLT‑MOBITEL’s credibility is further strengthened by multiple global certifications including Cloud Security, Cloud Privacy, Environmental Management, Quality Management, and Information Security. The company has received over 25 awards for ESG, reporting, and innovation, while Ookla® recognition in the second half of 2025 named SLT‑MOBITEL Sri Lanka’s Best Mobile Network.

Supporting national social and economic development, SLT‑MOBITEL has upgraded enterprise and government entities with state‑of‑the‑art optical fibre networks, enabled secure data centre solutions for the Ministry of Digital Economy, and driven digital inclusion by providing unlimited fibre internet to secondary schools.

Expanding its digital portfolio, SLT‑MOBITEL introduced SmartChat Mega, offering SMEs customised AI‑driven solutions to accelerate enterprise growth. Additionally, the Ceylon Remit solution enables Sri Lankans abroad to send money home seamlessly.

Through innovation, efficiency, and resilience, SLT‑MOBITEL continues to build a digitally empowered Sri Lanka by delivering secure, reliable, and transformative ICT solutions that strengthen enterprises and foster an inclusive national digital ecosystem.
